Wonky Star Quilt--Done-ish...

I am exstatic about this quilt and how it's come together! It's been a long time coming!

I'm obsessed with how bright and happy it is!

2015 BLOCK OF THE MONTH

This year's block if the month is a paper piecing quilt! Ever paper pieced? It is definitely not difficult, as I assumed it would be. It is, however, super super duper time consuming! 

Here is the block for January...

The whole center medallion is made of 32 triangles. The whole block took about 14 hours! I love this and I love that my points actually worked and it's beautiful!

I don't think I'm going to finish the quilt though...each month is basically making 32 triangles that go into 16 squares which are sewn together into 4 larger blocks. I don't have 14 extra hours every month!

But, since I have the fabric for a whole quilt, I am planning on doing this pattern from Missouri Star Quilt Co.

Charming, Wonky Star Quilt Block

Found this block on Missouri Star quilt Co.!  This is the idea: http://youtu.be/eMoE5-q1lP4

But then I found this idea on Pinterest...

...and I absolutely lived that it had a uniformity about it with the white starts in the middle of each 9-patch block.

So...I combined the two and made charming, wonky blocks for my makeover quilt!

So making the wonky star is pretty simple, but you do have to pay attention...

A. Sew a corner onto a colored block by laying it right side down through the center of the fabric block.

B. Press out.

C. Trim to colored block size

D. So it looks like this...

E. Repeat A on the other corner--these form your points to the stars!

F. Repeat B-D so it looks like this!

Then you sew row by row, and then sew the rows together, like any 9-patch.

Then this is what you get!

Seahawks Blocks!

A friend of mine posted something similar in Pinterest and her birthday is coming up, so...I had Matt find a 2x4 and cut it into 6, 8, & 10 inch sections. Then I painted the blocks!

For the letting, I used foam stamps, but you could probably do several things to get a similar look (i.e. Bistro pen, stencil, decals, stickers, etc.)

For the Seahawks symbol, I drew it on with pencil and then carefully painted it in, thus the slight imperfections, but I think they give it character?!?

Paper flower wreath

Saw this idea at Ben Franklin! There are always so many fun ideas all throughout the store!

I already had the flowers! I was going to make some sort of something out of them so this made a perfect little project. I purchased a small wooden wreath form, wrapped it in green ribbon, and then I put the flowers on with hot glue. I added a. Hanging bow, but the sample I saw had a fluffy bow as part of the wreath.

It actually went together pretty quickly!

One more step towards having the room makeover done. It's in the small little details, isn't it?

Intersection/ T Block Quilt

I finally got my new machine up and running and it is SO nice! 

I decided to make a quick quilt for some precious people that I adore (for a wedding gift). 

I found this idea from the Missouri Star Quilt Co. They do wonderful tutorials and they are always filling my head with new ideas that I HAVE TO DO!!!

This quilt actually went together so fast because it is mostly large pieces and you can chain stitch every step! Awwww! It's been a while since I could do that! And did I mention how nice and efficient the new machine is?!?

Finished barn door and wall decor start...

I am beginning to see the pieces come together and it is fantastic!

Here is a finished pic of the barn door headboard with a fabric and lace garland draped across the top! Many of the fabrics in the garland will be in the new quilt so it will tie in. I did, however, add in some ribbons and lace and burlap for other textures! I am in love!

I added some great barn door hardware that makes it look more realistic.

So cute!!!

I have several projects going for wall decor. I have my heart set on some barbed wire but it's difficult to find...guess I need to go on a trip to Montana...and a fake deer head...watch for that!

Anyway...I cut out silloettes of a deer and a bear and painted in the shape. Then using a chalk pen, I added the lettering. 

Then I worked in this gem of a monogram. Found this picture on Pinterest and needed to replicate it!

I decided to spice it up a bit though...using brighter colors.

Here is my finished product...
